While landing monstrously large trout is not always the main priority for many fly fisherman, let's all fess up and admit that we wouldn't mind a nice picture on the desk of a massive hook jawed brown whose belly sags over our hands as we struggled against his weight to hold him for the camera.

There are a variety of tactics employed to target the larger trout in a given body of water; streamers and night-fishing are just a couple of tactics that will make a memory of a lifetime!

Trophy trout can be targeted all year long in a variety of waters around Durango, CO - especially on the San Juan River or Animas River.  They are more often caught from a boat, but there are opportunities to wade for them as well.
